A true jewel. One of the most beautiful properties on the south coast of Barbados, this 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom penthouse has everything a paradise apartment should have: a gorgeous setting overlooking the Caribbean Sea; beautiful furnishings; soaring ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sea; absolute privacy; and plenty of space for everyone both indoors and out.
This roofto penthouse property is a truly outstanding vacation spot on the beautiful south coast of Barbados, the island known as the "Jewel of the Caribbean."
This was our third trip to Barbados so we were familiar with the Gap and the rest of the island.
Overall our experience was excellent as the penthouse was a perfect place to enjoy the beautiful weather and truly relax.
We had a total of 4 people in our party so we had plenty of room. The condo was all that I expected and more.
The ability to open up all of the sliding glass doors and have essentially an open air living and dining room was amazing.
The pool area and the beach were great as well.
The pictures of the beach area and the pool do not do justice as the beach area provides more than enough access to the water and the pool area is much larger than it appears.
The location is very convienent to the entire island as well.
We will definitely be back.
We have just returned from a great family holiday - age range 28 to 63 - and we all had a ball. This has to be about the best accommodation we have come across in Barbados in terms of value for money and sheer quality.
We have holidayed in Barbados some 6 times in the last 10 years. As an architect I am used to seeing deficiencies which I find hard to fathom - but there were no such problems here.
The accommodation could not have been better with so much inside and outside space, and even surpassed the images in the photos.
As we had previously stayed in St. Lawrence Gap - some 4 years ago - we were familiar with the local scene, restaurants etc. and, while some names have changed since then, the general buzz remains the same and so many amenities are within walking distance.
I would recommend a car to anyone who does not know the island - there are so many things to see, from the stunning scenery of the East Coast around Bathsheba, to the sugar cane plantations such as St. Nicholas Abbey in the north and the secluded beaches in the south east around Cranes and Bottom Bay.
While the first class junior penthouse (our first week) overlooked the ocean, from the superb penthouse (our second week) there were virtually 270 deg. panoramic views both inland and out to sea, with very comfortable outside furniture to sit and savour the evening breeze and watch fabulous sunsets on most evenings. Congratulations to Jane Shattuck, the rental agent, for making our holiday so memorable.
Every little request was handled quickly and successfully, even to the extent of providing a barbeque, which had only been mentioned in passing.
Thanks for everything, Jane. Our family of 5 adults has two avid surfers and on a few of the days, when the sea conditions were just right, they were actually able to surf from the beach in front of the apartments - there are not may places you could do that! However on most days the sea was just perfect for snorkelling which suited my 60+ years.
I should also mention that you can sometimes see turtles only 30 yards offshore, and there was one occasion when we were amazed to see a very large ( possibly humpback) whale blowing and then jumping fully out of the water perhaps a half mile off shore.
I think the foregoing says it all, but I would strongly recommend this property to anyone who enjoys those little extras in their accommodation and I just hope that my health will permit me to return next year.
